Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography (MIIGAiK) was established in 1779 and it is the center of higher geodetic education in Russia and the largest educational institution of this type in Europe. Thousands of the University graduates are taking part in the exploration of the territory and natural resources of Russia, in designing its maps, in constructing its cities, roads and industrial enterprises.

MIIGAiK is one the oldest institutions of higher education in the field of geodesy and cartography. In spite of its age our University is in the permanent process of development and adaptation to the demands of modern society.

The principal objectives of Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography are the following ones:
- to train specialists of high qualification, to have fundamental theoretical knowledge, practical skills in their specialty and be well informed of the most recent science and technology achievements;
